Every year lakhs of youth dream of becoming an officer of the country by passing the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) examination. When years of hard work, sacrifice of sleepless nights and countless hours spent among books bear fruit, their name shines in the final result. In such a situation, an ordinary youth suddenly becomes an Officer Trainee (OT), but the real journey begins only after this.
This journey starts from the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) located in the cool valleys of Mussoorie (Uttarakhand). It is not just a training centre, but a laboratory where the future officers of the country are prepared. Candidates do not join the job immediately after clearing UPSC CSE. Passing the exam is just the first step. After this they have to go through many steps and training, which are necessary to make them real officers.

What is its complete process?
1. Final Merit and Selection – After passing UPSC, the final merit list of the candidates comes. On the basis of this, they are allotted to IAS, IPS, IFS or other services.
2. Document Verification and Medical Examination – After the final list, the original documents of the candidates are checked and their physical and mental fitness is medically examined.
3. Training in LBSNAA (Foundation Course) – After clearing the documents and medical, candidates of services like IAS, IPS, IFS are called for training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) located in Mussoorie. In which foundation course, 15 weeks basic training course for all new officers and after this specialized training in different courses like IPS, IFS, IRS, IAS officers stay in LBSNAA for the next 2 years and take training.
4. Field Training – After completion of basic training at LBSNAA, IAS trainees are sent for one year field training in their allotted state. Here he learns administrative work as SDM.
5. Stipend – During training, candidates do not get salary but stipend. Of which around 35,000 – 40,000 take home.
