Painkillers: When there is any kind of pain in the body, people often turn to pain killers. The special thing is that the pain starts reducing shortly after taking the medicine. After all, how is this possible? As soon as pain occurs in the body, it is a kind of indication that there is some problem, injury or swelling somewhere. Whenever this pain occurs, chemicals called Prostaglandius are produced in the body, which signal the brain through nerves as to where the pain is occurring.
How do pain killers work?
Most pain killers like paracetamol and ibuprofen help in reducing the formation of these pain causing chemicals in the body. These medicines help in stopping the process of formation of Prostaglandius. When these chemicals are produced less, less pain signals reach the nerves. As a result, we start feeling relief in pain.
Why is the effect visible so quickly?
These medicines quickly dissolve in the blood as soon as they enter the stomach. They then quickly reach the entire body through blood. It especially shows its effect on the brain and painful areas. Generally, most pain killers start showing effect within 20 to 30 minutes.
