Heart Attack Risk In Healthy People: Why are perfectly fit people getting heart attacks? Know the real reason from the doctor

Hidden Causes Of Heart Disease In Young Adults: Do you look completely fit and healthy, yet may be at risk for heart disease? This question may sound strange, but the truth is something else. Often we assume that if we eat well, do some exercise and remain active, then the heart is completely safe. But the reality is that heart health is not determined only by external fitness. Let us tell you what experts say about this.

What do experts say?

Dr Samanjoy Mukherjee, who heads the department of interventional cardiology at Manipal Hospital, Dwarka, told TOI that “Most of us think that eating right and a little exercise will save us from heart attacks, but that is not the whole picture.” Actually, the fitness that we see like perfect weight, good stamina or clear skin are just superficial signs. The processes going on inside the body, such as inflammation, damage to the arteries or hormonal imbalance, are not visible from the outside. These hidden factors gradually increase the risk of heart disease.

heart disease cases in india

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, more than half of the cases of heart disease in India occur in people below 70 years of age. This means that even age or external fitness does not guarantee complete protection. Stress is also a big but overlooked reason. This is not always obvious, but gradually affects the body in the form of deadlines, lack of sleep and mental pressure. This increases blood pressure and increases swelling in the body, which directly affects the heart. The World Health Organization report also states that continuous stress increases the risk of high blood pressure and heart-related problems.

Many people don’t know about it

Apart from this, genetics also plays an important role. If there is a family history of heart disease at an early age, the risk automatically increases, no matter how good your lifestyle is. There are many silent diseases which continue to harm the body without any symptoms. Like high blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes. A study conducted by the National Institute of Health has found that a large number of people are not aware of their high blood pressure.

sleep is also important

Sleep is also very important for heart health. Less or poor sleep can affect heartbeat, increase stress and impair metabolism. Therefore, just looking fit from outside is not enough. It is important to get regular check-ups done like blood pressure, sugar, cholesterol and ECG. Identifying the risk at the right time is the biggest way to keep the heart safe.
