The country’s space agency ISRO has announced the launch of Young Scientists Program for class 9 students. The aim of this initiative is to increase interest in science and space among children at an early age. Through this program, the selected students will get an opportunity to see and understand the world of space research closely. YUVIKA is a special educational program, which has been specially designed for school students. Its objective is to take children out of books and connect them with the real scientific environment. During this time, students will visit various centers of ISRO, see the modern laboratories there and will be able to interact directly with the scientists. This will help them understand how space missions are prepared and how space technology works.
Who can apply?
Only those students who are studying in 9th class till January 1, 2026 can apply for this program. The applicant should be from any recognized school.
How will the selection process happen?
Students will be selected on several grounds. 50 percent weightage will be given to 8th class marks. Apart from this, 10 percent marks are fixed for online quiz. Extra marks will be given by participating in activities like science exhibition, Olympiad, sports, NCC or NSS. Students of schools in Panchayat area will be given 15 percent additional benefit. Also, representation of students from every state and union territory will be ensured.

What facilities will be available?
Selected students will get an opportunity to visit ISRO centres. They will be able to interact directly with scientists and see the work going on in the laboratories. They will be given practical information about space science. The most important thing is that the entire arrangement for accommodation, food and travel will be made by ISRO, due to which there will be no financial burden on the students.
