WhatsApp Plus: The world’s most popular messaging app WhatsApp is now working on a new premium plan which has been named WhatsApp Plus. This will be a paid subscription but the good thing is that it will not affect the basic use of the app.
The real experience of WhatsApp will remain free
Even after the arrival of this new plan, facilities like sending messages, making calls and end-to-end encryption will remain free for the users as before. That means common users will not have to pay any fee for everyday work. WhatsApp Plus is only for those who want a little more control and customization in the app.
What special will you get in WhatsApp Plus?
Through this subscription, users will get some extra features which normal users do not get. This will include special stickers, different themes and the option to change the app’s icon so that you can completely change the look of your WhatsApp.
Additionally, you’ll be able to pin more chats so that important conversations always appear at the top. Users will be able to set different ringtones and notifications for their favorite contacts, making the chatting experience more personal.
Which users will get this feature?
Currently this feature is being tested with limited users especially on Android platform. In the coming time, it can be gradually extended to other users. The thing to note is that this feature will be available only on WhatsApp Messenger and not on the Business app.
How will the subscription work?
WhatsApp Plus will be a monthly subscription which users will be able to activate by going to the settings of their app. Once activated, it will automatically renew every month until the user switches it off. Payment will be made through the App Store and all features can be managed from the same account.
How much can the price be?
Its official price has not been revealed yet but in initial testing in Europe its price is said to be around €2.49 per month. Its price in India may be less than this and it is estimated that it may be around Rs 200–250.
What needs to be kept in mind?
WhatsApp Plus can be used only through the official app. If a user uses an unofficial or modded version, his account can be temporarily or permanently closed. WhatsApp Plus is a new option for those users who want to make their chatting experience more special. However, for general users the app will remain free as before.
