Description
Cowboy Zombie isn’t what you’d expect from a typical math game. Instead of the usual sterile setting, you’re dropped into a dusty western town as an undead gunslinger—there’s a strange charm to it. The core of the game revolves around solving quick-fire math problems under pressure, all while your zombie cowboy tries to outpace rivals or maybe just stay in one piece. It moves faster than you’d guess; right when you think you’ve got the hang of it, numbers start flying at you even quicker.
You earn gold by being accurate (and fast), which opens up a bunch of silly hats and costumes that actually offer real bonuses, not just looks. There are achievements for nearly everything—some are obvious but a few caught me off guard. Multiplayer is there too, pitting your brain against other players in these brief showdowns that get surprisingly tense.
It’s interesting how kids seem to stick with it longer than most educational games, probably because the action never totally lets up. I found myself trying on goofy hats for that tiny edge—I’ll admit it was more fun than I expected.
A quiet moment hit me mid-game: learning feels different when there’s an oddball theme and real stakes attached. You might notice time slipping by faster than planned.

When I first tried Cowboy Zombie, I’ll be honest—I didn’t expect much from another ‘math’ puzzle dressed in costumes. But after a few rounds dodging numbers and chasing gold coins as an undead cowboy? Something clicked. It’s oddly satisfying solving equations when there’s an imaginary shootout happening in the background.
I really liked unlocking new costumes; some were hilariously weird and actually did help during tougher levels. The competitive multiplayer side surprised me—I lost my first match but ended up smiling anyway.
That said, sometimes the pace ramps up so much my brain felt scrambled (maybe they could smooth that part out just a bit). Still, it didn’t make me want to stop playing—it just made me want another go.
