How to Play

Description

At first glance, The Sorting Mart feels deceptively simple—you’re just moving products from one shelf to another, right? Well, almost. The real catch is matching three identical items together on a single shelf so they vanish and let the upper shelves drop down a notch. You don’t just move objects for the sake of it; every decision kind of counts more than you expect. Sometimes you’ll hit a groove and breeze through several matches in a row. Other times, it’s just this odd tangle of potato chips and toothpaste tubes that won’t line up no matter how hard you stare at them. There’s always the shuffle button if things get too messy but using it never feels quite as satisfying as cracking a tough match yourself. There isn’t really much time to pause and strategize—levels keep stacking on pressure with tighter limits or more complicated layouts. I noticed the game doesn’t go easy after you make a mistake either; mess up the order, and suddenly everything seems out of place. It’s interesting, honestly, because even though there’s not much story or big rewards, I still found myself wanting to nail that next arrangement just for the sake of it. Maybe it’s best for players who enjoy subtle brain teasers with a little race against time mixed in.

So I gave The Sorting Mart a shot thinking it would be pretty chill—just move stuff around, right? Actually, there were moments where my brain had to work harder than expected. At first I was quick with arranging items into sets of three, but once new obstacles appeared (like oddly-shaped stacks), things got tricky fast. I liked having to think ahead about which shelves would drop next or whether I should use the shuffle button now or save it for later. On the other hand, sometimes luck played too big a part; if good matches weren’t available near the top, you could get stuck waiting for something better. Still enjoyed that frantic feeling near the end when time was running out—really kept me tapping faster. Would have been nice if there were more visual variety or some unique store themes to freshen things up now and then.
